Waffle House Shooting: Atlanta Suspect Charged With Murder

A 29-year-old man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a Waffle House employee in Atlanta.

The suspect, Desean Brown, was arrested on Sunday, November 20, 2022, and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The shooting occurred at a Waffle House restaurant on Peachtree Road in Atlanta at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. According to police, Brown entered the restaurant and shot an employee, 24-year-old Javonta Douglas, multiple times.

Douglas was pronounced dead at the scene. Another employee, 25-year-old Devonte Freeman, was also shot and wounded.

Freeman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Brown fled the scene after the shooting, but was later apprehended by police. He is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.

The Waffle House shooting is the latest in a series of violent crimes that have occurred in Atlanta in recent months.

In September, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot outside a Midtown Atlanta nightclub. In October, a 3-year-old girl was shot and killed while riding in a car with her mother.

The Atlanta Police Department is urging anyone with information about the Waffle House shooting to come forward.

Waffle House Shooting Suspect Had History of Domestic Violence
